Happy First Weekend of SPRING!!!! 🌸 I’ve got a challenge for us. 🎉

One of our goals this year is to host 3–5 events that give back in a big way, and this is one we’re really excited to 'rally' around.

We’re running the 'Serve Up the Sound' Pickleball Tournament, and I want Team Doogie to show up strong, not just on the courts, but for the cause behind it. (Even if you don't play pickleball, you can help!)

🎯  Our Goal: Raise $1,500 from Team Doogie alone

That’s just 43 players at $35 each. Can we do it????

This event supports the Youth Musical Arts Academy of North Port, a local nonprofit providing after-school programs, camps, scholarships, and mentorship through music. They give kids in our community access to instruments, lessons, and performance opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Music has a way of building confidence, creating connection, and giving kids an outlet to express themselves. For many, it opens doors they didn’t even know were possible.

Now for the fun part… We’re playing Pickleball Poker. ♥️♠️♦️♣️

You’ll sign up as an individual and get a new partner each round. After every round, winners will draw a playing card. At the end of the tournament, the best five-card poker hands win.

That means every game matters, every draw counts, and anyone can win.

Florida weather decided to humble us again 😭

Tonight was supposed to be the kickoff of our Spring Volleyball Season, but after the brutal cold and wind last night at blind-draw, tonight is shaping up to be more “grab a hoodie” than “spring volleyball vibes.”

So here’s the updated game plan 👇

🌸 Spring Volleyball Update

Tuesday Volleyball league has been postponed ONE WEEK. We will begin March 3rd, instead of tonight. That means we’re keeping Spring Volleyball registration open for ONE more week to give the weather a chance to cooperate and to see if we can round out the season.

Our goal is 12 teams, and we’re currently at 10.5 (lol). So close!

Blind Draw Volleyball has been such a hit lately! We get great turnouts, awesome vibes, and exactly the kind of low-commitment play a lot of you enjoy

Between now and April 3rd, we will continue to have blind draw volleyball Monday and Friday evenings at Centennial Park!

AND because the momentum has been trending upward, we’re going to keep Thursday Blind Draw Volleyball at Carmalita Park going for a few more weeks and see how it continues to grow!

We have tried Blind Draw Cornhole and Pickleball in the past, and they just didn’t gain the same traction. That said… I’d love your feedback! Was it the day or time? The format? Hello Doogies!

Wellllll… Mother Nature decided she’s the boss this weekend 🥶

As much as we were SO excited to kick off the weekend together with our Kickball Tournament and Team Doogie Social, the forecast is looking a little too cold and windy (and maybe even rainy) for a fun day outside. To keep everyone warm, healthy, and happy, we’ve made the call to postpone both events this weekend.

Are we bummed? Totally. ☹️ But we also know this just means we get to come back later with sunshine, warmer temps, and an even better spring event!

The good news is we’re already working on rescheduling for the March or April timeframe, when Florida decides to be Florida again. We can’t wait to turn it into an amazing get-together for the whole Team Doogie community.

For anyone who already registered and paid, refunds will be issued this week. Once a new date is locked in, we’ll share all the fun details.

Now for the important question…

Since we suddenly have a free Saturday, what should we do instead?!

Bowling alley meet-up mid-day?

Lunch at Blue Heron?

Something totally different?

If you have ideas or would like to be included in whatever fun plan we come up with, reach out and let me know! We’d still love to spend some time together... INSIDE!

I wanted to share a quick update for Thursday night volleyball in Punta Gorda.

Instead of jumping straight into league play this week, we’re switching gears and hosting a blind-draw volleyball night! This gives us a chance to play, socialize, and see if we can put together a few more teams to launch a strong Thursday night league.

📍 Location

Carmalita Park | Punta Gorda

⏰ Timing

• Registration opens at 6:00 PM

• Blind-draw tournament starts at 6:30 PM

💲 Cost

• $5 per person

Our plan is simple:

• If we’re able to form enough teams, we’ll move forward with a Thursday night league

• If not, we’ll continue with Thursday night blind-draw volleyball, which is always a fun and social way to play and meet people

This is a great night to socialize, meet new people, and play volleyball without pressure. It’s also a really good opportunity to help us see what Thursday nights can become.

If you have friends who have not played with us in a while or who have never played with Team Doogie before, please feel free to forward this email or invite them to join you tonight. The more people we have out there, the better chance we have of building a strong and fun Thursday night league.

Our very own CALLIE will be running Thursday nights in Punta Gorda, and we’re so lucky to have her. Please be kind, patient, and awesome to her. She truly is amazing and we couldn’t do this without her!

Friendly reminder that Christmas is only 10 days away (how did that happen?!) 🎅

Before we jump into the final stretch of 2025, we want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated food for the YMCA Holiday Food Drive last week. Because of you, we were able to collect some seriously amazing donations.

And to help even more, all money collected from blind-draw entry fees last week is being donated directly to YMCA families to help purchase fresh items for their holiday meals like turkey, ham, butter, milk, and other essentials. You played, you gave, and you helped make the holidays brighter for local families in need. That’s Team Doogie magic!!
